Our team
Katelin Buchanan, LPC, PMH-C
Katelin is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and California with extensive experience treating individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use disorders, and major life transitions. Katelin is particularly passionate about working with women who are coping with infertility, pregnancy loss, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs). Combining post-graduate training in fertility counseling and PMADs with years of firsthand, personal experience, Katelin strongly believes that counseling is an invaluable tool for women going through any of these transitions. Not only does Katelin come to each client with compassion and understanding, but also experience and education.
The majority of Katelin's career has been spent providing care in a hospital system’s inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient levels of care. During her time living on the west coast, Katelin started working in a private practice specializing in women's reproductive health in 2019, solidifying her passion for working with this incredibly important (and often underserved) population. Upon moving back to Virginia in 2022, she knew she wanted to start a practice of her own with her dear friend, Kristen, to continue supporting women. Women’s Therapy and Wellness, LLC opened their “doors” in 2023 and co-owning this practice has truly been one of the most rewarding experiences of Katelin’s life.
Katelin earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Duke University, as well as her Master's degree in Counseling from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She has completed advanced perinatal mental health training and is certified through Postpartum Support International. She is also trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and perinatal Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT).
Katelin enjoys running outdoors, practicing yoga, and spending time with her husband and three children. She is so happy to be back in Virginia after spending five years enjoying southern California. Katelin considers it a privilege to do this work and genuinely looks forward to meeting you and being a part of your journey!
